Duties
- Safely operate school buses, paratransit vehicles, and other commercial transportation vehicles following all traffic laws and vehicle codes
- Transport children, seniors, or individuals with special needs to after-school programs, appointments, or community activities with care and punctuality
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, mechanical readiness, and compliance with safety protocols
- Follow emergency response procedures for transportation incidents, including CPR and first aid when necessary
- Communicate effectively with passengers, parents, school staff, and dispatchers to coordinate schedules and address any concerns
- Manage behavior on the bus through positive behavior management techniques to ensure a safe environment for all passengers
- Respond quickly to traffic changes or unexpected delays while maintaining professionalism and calmness during stressful situations
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Valid Mississippi CDL (Class B or appropriate class)
- Experience in bus driving or commercial driving preferred
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, defensive driving techniques, and emergency stop procedures
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable; excellent communication skills are essential
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicles for basic troubleshooting and maintenance awareness
Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
