Responsibilities
- Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote comfort and independence
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Support patient transfer methods utilizing equipment like Hoyer lifts and ensure safe manual handling practices
- Administer medications and perform basic medical procedures following established protocols and HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to ensure timely intervention
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized patient environments adhering to aseptic techniques and infection control standards
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations
- Experience working with diverse populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer's disease, and behavioral health needs
- Knowledge of medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS) certification
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) such as Epic or Cerner is preferred
- Prior experience in long-term care facilities, hospitals (including ICU or trauma centers), assisted living communities, or home care settings is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using proper techniques; manual handling skills are essential
- Strong communication skills for caregiving interactions and team collaboration
- Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
