Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Specialist (Retirement) to provide comprehensive federal retirement and benefits support. The HR Specialist will review and process voluntary and disability retirement cases, prepare retirement estimates, provide retirement counseling and advisory services, and ensure retirement-related personnel actions are accurately coded and processed.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review voluntary and disability retirement packages for accuracy, completeness, eligibility, and compliance with applicable federal requirements.
  • Analyze employee service history, retirement coverage, age, creditable service, and other relevant information to determine eligibility for federal retirement benefits.
  • Provide comprehensive advisory services to employees regarding voluntary and disability retirement, including eligibility requirements, application procedures, benefit considerations, and retirement-related personnel processes.
  • Prepare and run accurate federal retirement estimates using applicable retirement systems, employee records, and supporting documentation.
  • Review retirement estimates with employees and explain the information contained within the estimates, including relevant service history, retirement calculations, and benefit considerations.
  • Review disability retirement cases and supporting documentation and provide guidance regarding applicable eligibility requirements, procedures, and documentation requirements.
  • Code and process retirement related personnel.
  • Review official personnel folders, personnel actions, service history, and other documentation necessary to validate retirement eligibility and support accurate retirement calculations.
  • Maintain accurate retirement case files and track retirement actions from initial request through completion, ensuring required documentation is obtained and processing requirements are met.
  • Research, interpret, and apply federal retirement laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidance when evaluating retirement cases and responding to employee questions.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies or issues involving retirement eligibility, service history, retirement coverage, creditable service, or other factors affecting retirement benefits.
  • Provide timely, professional, and accurate retirement information to employees, HR personnel, and others while appropriately managing sensitive or confidential personnel information.
  • Review retirement calculations, documentation, and personnel actions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable federal requirements prior to final processing.
Qualifications:

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

US Citizen

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Organizational Management, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum of six (6) years of professional experience performing federal retirement and benefits support services comparable in scope and complexity to the responsibilities described above.

Demonstrated experience independently reviewing and advising employees on federal retirement benefits and eligibility.

Demonstrated experience reviewing voluntary and disability retirement cases.

Demonstrated experience preparing federal retirement estimates and counseling employees regarding the information contained within retirement estimates.

Demonstrated experience coding and processing federal retirement personnel actions.

Salary : $75,000 - $125,000
