Position Summary
The System Engineer designs, implements, and supports complex system architectures for GSA’s internal HR systems. This role leads integration efforts, drives performance optimization, ensures system security and continuity, and provides technical leadership across engineering teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and implement complex system architectures and enterprise solutions for HR systems.
- Lead system integration, migration, and modernization projects.
- Establish system monitoring, performance optimization, and capacity planning strategies.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across projects.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Manage system security hardening, compliance, and vulnerability remediation.
- Coordinate with vendors on support, licensing, and platform planning.
- Create and enforce system engineering standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements and capabilities.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of major system incidents.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
- US Citizen
- BA/BS 5–8 years of systems engineering experience, or MS 3–5 years.
- Experience designing, deploying, and supporting complex system environments.
- Demonstrated leadership in system integration, performance tuning, and incident resolution.
