This position is a part-time evening Instructor position within the Minuteman Technical Institute. The candidate for the position must be licensed or licensable by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Chapter 74 Automotive Technology instructor or have at least 5 years recent work experience with teaching or training experience. Applicants for this position will be expected to implement instruction with a strong focus on Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Frameworks in Automotive Technology. This is a grant-funded position contingent upon the availability of funding. Courses are subject to sufficient enrollment and may be canceled prior to the start date if minimum enrollment is not met. Responsibilities and compensation are outlined below. Major Responsibilities:
  • Plan, implement and periodically update a program of study based upon the Massachusetts Vocational/Technical Curriculum Frameworks and industry recognized credentials that meets the needs, interests and abilities of students seeking a post-secondary experience.
  • Actively work with Program Advisory Board, local business and industries, and other industry experts for continuous program improvement.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of post-secondary students.
  • Guide the learning process toward curriculum and establish objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to post-secondary students.
  • Assess post-secondary students on a regular basis and provide progress reports.
  • Maintain all records necessary for reporting grades, performance, and the documentation needed to support industry recognized credentials.
  • Counsel with colleagues and post-secondary students on a regular basis.
  • Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Prepare and/or assist in the development of a departmental budget.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing post-secondary student life and conduct.
  • Assist the administration in implementing MTI goals and policies related to the educational and operational needs of the MTI Program.
  • Maintain the condition of facilities.
  • Perform any other related task or duty at the direction of the Director.
Qualifications:
  • Licensed or licensable as a Chapter 74 Instructor by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in Automotive Technology required. If not licensed, individuals must provide:
  • Minimum 2 years teaching experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of recent (within the last 7 years) full-time experience directly related to automotive technology.
  • Possession of current Automotive Services Excellence (ASE) certification in at least three areas of automotive technology.
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Frameworks for Automotive Technology is required.
  • Previous experience with X2-Aspen grading system preferred but not required.
  • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required.
  • Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff.
Additional Requirements:
  • This position includes but is not limited to: interacting with the public, walking around the school, observing students, standing for periods, occasionally lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds, reading documents, using a computer, listening and speaking, using office equipment, maintaining energy throughout the day, and handling stress effectively.
Terms of Employment:
  • Part-Time.
  • Monday - Thursday, 4:00PM - 9:30PM.
  • Hours will vary based on District and student needs.
  • Grant-funded position, contingent on the availability of funding and sufficient course enrollment.
Effective Dates of Employment:
  • August 2026 - June 30, 2027.
Supervisor:
  • Director of Expanded Access.
Compensation:
  • Compensation is $65.00 per hour.
