Family Law Attorney (Partial Remote)
The Mint Law Firm is expanding with an office in Tampa. As such, we are hiring a family law attorney with at least five years of family law experience. You'll draft documents, manage your own cases, and cover your own hearings. The job is hybrid remote. If you have meetings at our Ybor City office or the court then you must attend. Otherwise, we do not care whether you work in Tampa or Tahiti! Note that you must be able to attend hearings in Polk and Hillsborough Counties.
How we're different
- You can work remotely so long as you are agreeable to meeting clients and attending hearings. You don't have to come into an office.
- You own your cases. You cover the hearings on your cases yourself, in person or virtually.
- No rainmaking. You aren't expected to bring in business or develop clients. Your job is to manage your cases and move them forward.
- A clear path to salary. You start as a 1099 independent contractor while we evaluate each other.
- Once you're consistently billing 112 hours a month with strong work product, you move to a W-2 salaried position.
- Our salary starts at $120,000 for a billable requirement of 115 hours per month.
Duties
- Case management: Build up over time to a caseload of 45–55 family law cases.
- Drafting: Handle motion practice, and prepare and review Florida family law pleadings and forms.
- Hearings: Attend all hearings on your cases. Our docket is busy, so another attorney may not be available to cover for you.
Requirements
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
- Member in good standing of The Florida Bar with a clean disciplinary record
- At least five years of family law experience
- Able to attend hearings in Polk and Hillsborough Counties
- Reasonable availability during business hours for virtual client meetings
- Strong communication, negotiation, and people skills
- Detail-oriented and well organized
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office and Teams (Clio experience is a plus)
Compensation
- Contractor phase: $70-$120 per hour (1099)
- Salaried phase: $120,000 base salary (W-2) with an annual requirement of 1,350 billable hours
- Once you hit set hour thresholds: productivity bonuses, plus reimbursement for technology and CLE
