What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal - Horticulture position at Minot Park District?
This position reports to the Park Horticulturist. The Minot Park District has about 900 developed acres and 200 undeveloped acres of park land. Duties of the department include management of 16 neighborhood parks, the grounds in the Roosevelt Park Zoo, caring for 3 greenhouses and planting and caring for over 35,000 annuals in flower display beds. The department also oversees Corbett Field, Hoeven Field, and the Optimist Soccer Complex. There are many other related duties involved in the care of the park districts properties which you may be asked to do. We are a seven day a week operation in the summer and you must be willing to work weekends, evenings and holidays if asked.
Experience:
- Park maintenance experience helpful but not necessary
Primary Responsibilities:
- Operating and maintaining all equipment in a safe manner.
- Cleaning and upkeep of restrooms, shelters, shops and grounds.
- Operation of hand, self-propelled and riding mowers, weed eaters, tillers and blowers.
- Planting, watering, weeding and caring for plant materials and display beds.
- Pickup of trash and debris where needed
- Perform general grounds maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned, requested or required.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 16 years of age.
- Must have a valid North Dakota Driver's License.
- Ability to move 50 lbs. and perform moderate to heavy physical labor.
- Ability to operate and use power tools and equipment.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions including hot/cold temperatures.
- Ability to work with other team members or alone.
- Successful completion of required background check.
