Chief Engineer (w/m/d) - The Wolseley New York Hotel

We are looking for a Chief Engineer to lead the Engineering function at The Wolseley New York Hotel, ensuring the safe, efficient and reliable operation of all building systems while delivering exceptional levels of guest comfort and safety.

Your mission

You will lead the Engineering department and ensure operational excellence across all technical systems, preventive maintenance programmes, capital projects and compliance activities, playing a key role in the hotel’s performance and guest experience.

What you will do

Ensure full compliance with fire, health and safety legislation, including OSHA, FDNY and DOB requirements.

Guarantee that all fire, life and safety systems are fully operational and compliant.

Plan and oversee preventive maintenance, renovations and technical projects with minimal disruption to hotel operations.

Lead capital projects and act as main liaison with contractors, vendors and ownership representatives.

Drive energy efficiency initiatives and cost-saving measures.

Prepare and manage the Engineering budget in collaboration with Finance.

Lead and develop a unionised engineering team, managing scheduling, overtime and staffing in line with union agreements.

Build strong working relationships with union representatives.

Support security operations in coordination with hotel leadership, where applicable.

Maintain detailed documentation for inspections, permits and certifications.

Stay current with technical and regulatory developments in the engineering field.

What are we looking for?

Proven experience as Chief Engineer or senior engineering leader within a hotel environment.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in hotel engineering operations.

Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems.

FSLD certification (required).

In-depth knowledge of NYC building codes and regulations.

Experience working in a union environment (highly preferred).

Strong leadership, organisation and communication skills.

Fluent English.
