Electrician, Journeyman Wireman - $56.80 per hour 

Position Summary: The Journeyman Wireman (JIW) performs skilled electrical work across the Saint Paul Arena Company campus, including Saint Paul RiverCentre, Roy Wilkins Auditorium, Grand Casino Arena, TRIA Rink, and 317 On Rice Park. This role ensures safe, efficient, and code-compliant electrical operations in a dynamic event-driven environment.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

  • Performs skilled electrical work to maintain and repair systems across campus facilities.
    • Installs and services lighting, power distribution, and control systems.
    • Conducts routine inspections and preventive maintenance.
    • Diagnoses and resolves electrical malfunctions using appropriate tools and techniques.
  • Supports event operations by providing reliable electrical services.
    • Executes production power tie-ins for concerts, conventions, and other events.
    • Assists with the setup and teardown of temporary electrical systems.
    • Monitors electrical performance during live events to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Collaborates with internal teams and responds to operational needs.
    • Coordinates with departments and contractors to fulfill electrical requirements.
    • Maintains tools and equipment in working order and reports deficiencies.
    • Participates in emergency response and call-back assignments as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education & Certification:

  • Valid Minnesota Class A Journeyman Electrician License required.
  • Master Electrician License preferred.
  • Membership in I.B.E.W. Local 110 or willing to become a member within 30 days of hire. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

 

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including generators, switchgear, control panels, receptacles, fire alarms, PA systems, and solid-state controllers.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong customer service capabilities with a focus on internal and external client satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Experience in event or venue-based electrical work is a plus.

Work Conditions:

  • Availability to work irregular hours and rotations, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical requirements include walking, standing, climbing ladders/lifts, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working at heights (catwalks, lifts).
  • Uniform and safety gear required per company policy.
  • This position may be required to work in loud and noisy environments, as well as dark, dim, and bright environments, which may include rapidly changing lighting levels, strobe effects, and other effects related to lighting fixtures, pyro effects, etc.
