THE ELECTRIC UTILITIES DEPARTMENT
The Electric Utilities Department consists of an Electric Line Supervisor and four full-time Journeymen Line Workers. There are 1,332 residential, 299 commercial, 3 industrial and 55 rural electric customers. The electric system has reached a load of 21 megawatts. The Electric Utilities also has four diesel power generators with a total of eight megawatts of capacity which could be used in the event of a power outage. The generation capacity is also used by Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) for peaking and their electrical power needs. Melrose power suppliers are MRES and Western Area Power Administration (WAPA).
Position Summary
The Electric Line Supervisor is responsible for the operation, construction, and maintenance of the City's electrical distribution system and supervises the Electric Department staff. This position works on-call and responds to emergencies and/or repairs, as needed.
Education And Experience
Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school in electrical lineworker training, and a certificate of completion of an approved apprenticeship certification for a journey line worker. Prefer a minimum of five years with leadership experience in electrical distribution and power production, or a combination of education and experience. The candidate must have knowledge of National Electric Safety Code and APPA Manual. Supervisory experience is preferred.
