Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide leadership to CAD Technician and Document Management staff ensuring effective performance.
- Manage workloads within budget and project priorities.
- Ensure accurate, timely, and cost‑effective production of drawings in compliance with company standards.
- Develop staff through training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
- Coordinate internal teams and external consultants to meet department objectives and budget goals.
- Support engineering groups with CAD training, technical support, and software standards.
- Maintain CAD and document management systems, standards, and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure project documentation is complete, organized, and construction‑ready.
- Research and promote continuous improvement by implementing emerging technologies to improve efficiency and meet customer needs.
- Associate's degree in drafting or equivalent required.
- Additional courses in computer fundamentals and computer-aided drafting preferred.
- Eight or more years of directly related experience.
- Supervisory experience desirable.
- The position will report regularly, in person, to the Downtown, Duluth, MN office.
- This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE’s needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the employees position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee's home office.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license for occasional travel to other Minnesota Power locations.
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain working relationships with both internal and external customers and consultants.
- This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
- The expected annual compensation range for this position is $82,000 - $102,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
