Classification Summary
Watonwan County Human Services is seeking a motivated person to serve as a Health Services Program Aide. This is a full time (40 hours per week) position. The salary range is $22.23 - $30.00 per hour. We are seeking a motivated person to deliver support to agency clients & staff by providing public health department program assistance in the following areas: fluoride varnishing, pack’n play & car seat education & distribution programs, assist with Maternal Child Health outreach programs, assisting clients with Family Planning and Public Health Emergency Preparedness functions, assist with grant related duties in Opioid and Cannabis programs, assist with outreach & surveys for the Community Health Assessment (CHA) & Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP).

Minnesota Merit System Classification Summary
To deliver assistance to agency customers and staff by performing blood lead tests, hemoglobin (Hbg) testing, as requested by staff, and fluoride varnishing as requested by as customers. To provide Child and Teen Checkup (C&TC) Outreach to customers and clinic providers.

To assist with customers during WIC clinics.
Give information to families on fluoride varnishing and apply fluoride varnish if a child is identified as needing a fluoride treatment and the responsible representative gives their permission.
Make WIC appointments and appropriate referrals regarding customers. Assure that customers are seen within an appropriate timeframe when making appointments for Health Services staff.
Check with customer as to whether they have had a blood lead test at their medical home. Complete the blood test if applicable.
Maintain appropriate records for all procedures completed at an agency clinic.
Travel to all agency office sites to participate in WIC clients as scheduled.
To be responsible for fluoride varnish program.
Monitor supply of tooth brushes, fluoride varnish and educational materials that are appropriate for the program.
Plan and schedule fluoride varnish outreach clinics.
To provide assistance with clerical duties including but not limited to: compile and hand out application material, update program information in the waiting room, cover the front desk area as requested by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Minnesota Merit System Minimum Qualifications
High school graduation and two years of experience providing customer service, office support functions or paraprofessional level services in a public health agency/program. Completion of two years of college or vocational school with an emphasis in nursing, health education, nutrition, or closely related field may substitute for the experience.
Watonwan Preferred Qualifications
Must have a valid State of Minnesota driver’s license.
Examination Process
