Freeborn County Department of Human Services has a vacancy for a full time (40 hours a week) Case Aide - Human Services Technician - Case Aide position.

This position under limited supervision, performs regular software support for county human service department use of multiple state-run systems and general computer programs. Provides training to department employees and troubleshooting support. Serves as the department liaison with state-run human services helpdesks. Generates reports that can be used to verify that work performed by users has been entered and meets required timelines. Works as the agency’s Title IV-E liaison to ensure that funding is properly claimed. Prepares agency service arrangements and works with accounting to ensure that county vendors are properly paid. Serves as the local trainer and help resource for state systems.

• Remains current with updates in state systems; attends conference calls or webinars and reads bulletins.
• Provides individual and group training on use of state and departmental software;
• Prepares training materials that can be used as reference guides by users;
• Explains log-in and security procedures to individuals or groups and answers questions of individuals.
• Communicates the expected time for system updates that may require a change in user procedure.
• Performs data entry into multiple county and state computer systems and retrieves information from those systems; distributes system generated activity reports to the appropriate persons for verification.
• Monitors SSIS information for completeness and accuracy.
• Interprets/explains system use rules, manual material, and policy or informational bulletins to staff.
• Creates service arrangements and works with accounting to ensure that service providers are properly paid for work performed for the County.
• Acts as the liaison to the Social Security Administration for Title IV-E of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. §§ 671-679b), which is an important funding stream for foster care and related costs for Freeborn County.
While these are the primary focus of the position, we believe strongly in teamwork and employees will be called upon to perform a variety of duties as part of their role with the County.High school degree, or the equivalent, and in addition, either:
1) three years of clerical experience and/or experience working with the public ie) customer service; or
2) two years of clerical experience in a public welfare/human service agency; or
3) two years of experience as a Community Service Aide or similar experience in a private non-profit or other public agency; or
4) two years of study at an accredited two or four-year college with emphasis in the behavioral sciences, business, or closely related subjects (at least 23 quarter credits or 16 semester credits).

• Requires a high school diploma;
• Requires one year of technical or office clerical experience.
Licenses/Certifications
This position will require the acquisition and maintenance of the following additional certificates/licenses:
• Certifications for access to state systems.

In order to be considered for this job, you must take and pass an examination, which is offered online.  The examination consists of four (4) units measuring math skills used in determining eligibility for services, reading comprehension, basic math and sentence clarity.  You will need a piece of scratch paper or calculator to complete the exam.  After your Merit System application has been submitted, you will be sent a link to access the examination sections.  Set aside enough time (slightly over an hour) to take this examination in its entirety (in one sitting).  If you click out of a section before completing it - it will score the unanswered questions as "0s" zeros and you will not be given credit.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: 
You will have a limited number of days from the date you submitted your application to complete the exam.  Please note that you are applying for a specific county vacancy, and the exam must be completed online by August 12th  (midnight).                                                                                                                               
Please allow at least one hour in order to take the exam and all 4 sections in its entirety as required.
