Position: Case Aide
Department: Health and Human Services
Location: Cambridge, MN
Job Type: Full-time (40 hours per week)
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Work Setting: On site, regular in-person attendance required
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 
Union: Teamsters Local 320 Family Services Union

Compensation

  • Expected 2026 Hiring Range: $24.06 - $25.65 per hour ($50,044.80 - $53,352.00 annually), depending on qualifications, relevant experience, and internal equity.
  • Full Range: $24.06 – $31.06 per hour ($50,044.80 – $64,604.80 annually), with the potential for additional longevity-based pay.

General Definition of Work

Performs a variety of health and human services tasks related to the rendering of appropriate paraprofessional services: assisting with the coordination of case operations and assessments; collecting and entering case information into a computer system; overseeing a caseload; maintaining and storing records; completing required reports, and related work as apparent or assigned.

Work is performed under the direction of a Social Worker, Public Health Nurse, Social Services Supervisor, Public Health Supervisor, Financial Assistance Supervisor or Division Leader.

Essential Functions

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   • Determines eligibility of clients for health and human services programs and maintains complete and accurate records on client eligibility.
  • Reviews case records for completion of required agency forms.
  • Explains health and human services programs and services to individuals or groups.
  • Explains application procedures to individuals or groups and assists individuals in completing application forms.
  • Interviews clients to obtain and verify necessary factual information.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to other units and community resources.
  • Makes contact with community resources as needed.
  • Informs clients of the right to appeal and of other rights.
  • Responds to initial client complaints.
  • Performs clerical functions as assigned.
  • Performs statistical operations relevant to health and human service program procedures.
  • Prepares service agreements for services purchased by the Division as needed; review of vouchers and invoices for accuracy; arranges for payment.
  • Composes correspondence and constructs reports as needed.
  • Transports clients to visits, appointments and court hearings as needed.
  • Participates in Public Health Preparedness activities, emergencies, exercises and training as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED and moderate experience providing administrative assistance within a health and human services related organization, working with the general public, processing documents, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions

Physical Requirements and Activity

This work requires frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 25 pounds of force.  Work regularly requires sitting, speaking and hearing; using hands to finger, handle or feel and perform repetitive motions; occasionally requires standing, walking, and reaching with hands and arms.

Sensory Requirements

Work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.

Sensory Utilization

Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities.

Environmental Conditions

Work requires exposure to blood borne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment.  Work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions.  Work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION:

The application will be evaluated in a Training and Experience Assessment worth 100 points.  Veterans Preference will be applied in accordance with Minnesota law.  A top group of qualified applicants will be invited to the interview process.

Final appointment is contingent upon the applicant passing a background investigation including a criminal history search.  Costs of the background will be paid for by Isanti County.
