The Tenth Judicial District, which includes eight counties in the Northern Suburbs of the Twin Cities Metro Area, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time Court Operations Associate to join the Anoka County Court Administration team in Anoka, MN.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide exceptional service to court customers, judges, attorneys, and court staff by supporting a variety of case types, including civil, criminal, family, juvenile, and traffic. This position offers a hands-on, live courtroom experience with meaningful responsibilities. We are seeking individuals with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. As a Court Operations Associate, you will work both independently and collaboratively, using sound judgment and available resources to complete a wide range of administrative and courtroom tasks.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Court Operations Associate performs a variety of administrative, courtroom, and customer service functions to support efficient court operations. Core responsibilities include:

  • Independently performs administrative and case processing work across one or more case types, including criminal, juvenile, traffic, probate, jury, conciliation, civil, and/or family. Utilizes court technology systems such as the Minnesota Court Information System (MNCIS), Microsoft Office, electronic File and Serve (eFS), SharePoint, and other related platforms.
  • Provides in-person courtroom support by collaborating with judges, court reporters, and justice partners. Responsibilities include calling cases, capturing minutes, processing exhibits, and managing courtroom documents.
  • Assists attorneys, self-represented litigants, judges, and the public by responding to inquiries in person, over the phone, by mail, and electronically in a timely and professional manner.
  • Schedules and maintains court calendars for an assigned judge, including coordinating hearing dates with parties, sending required notices, and processing routine orders.
  • Performs a variety of advanced clerical and case processing tasks in compliance with court rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepares, scans, indexes, and maintains legal documents and case records, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and proper data entry.
  • Supports case flow management by monitoring deadlines and ensuring timely progression of cases.
  • May serve as an Electronic Recording Equipment Operator (EREO), including setting up, testing, and monitoring digital recording equipment during court proceedings.
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion when handling sensitive case information.
  • Participates actively in team meetings, cross-training, and continuing education opportunities to maintain current knowledge of court processes and best practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • One (1) year of relevant job experience or greater, which may include but is not limited to customer service, administrative work, office, and clerical work.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Proficient in Microsoft office Suite, with the ability to learn other job-related software.

  • Certificate or degree in a related field.

  • Basic knowledge of court procedures, policies, and records management.

  • Experience with electronic document applications, workflow queues and web-based video and audio platforms.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

  • Ability to learn and apply rules of court, state statutes, case processing procedures, and local court policies.

  • Skill in navigating challenging situations and resolving conflicts in a respectful, professional, and courteous manner.

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey information clearly to a variety of audiences.

  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service while working under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency in using a personal computer, including electronic case management systems, Microsoft Office, and other court-related applications and equipment.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, judicial officers, justice partners, and the public.

  • Ability to support and communicate effectively with court users, including those with limited familiarity with the judicial system.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters appropriately and in compliance with applicable court rules, policies, and laws.

  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to analyze information accurately.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

  • This AFSCME-represented position is located in the Anoka County Courthouse at 2100 3rd Ave. Anoka, MN 55303
  • Work is performed primarily in an office-setting, a public counter and/or in a courtroom.
  • The expected hiring range for external hires for this position is $22.50 to $28.45/hr, based on qualifications, with a full future earning potential of $46,980- $73,999 annually.
  • This position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • Core business hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Initial days off: Saturday, Sunday, and Court Designated Holidays.
