This position is responsible for the planning, directing, coordinating, implementing, evaluating regulatory and auditing compliance, facilitating survey readiness, and education needs throughout the Minnesota Veterans Home - Minneapolis.
This position will work in conjunction with and under the lead work direction of the Principal Infection Preventionist Registered Nurse through implementing and maintaining the Infection Prevention/Control Program for applicable regulatory requirements and participating in agency committee, projects, education and trainings.
The Minnesota Veterans Home in Minneapolis provides skilled nursing care in a supportive environment that fosters a stable, healthy, and meaningful life for Veterans. We offer a creative, fun, collaborative, and stimulating work environment that encourages professional growth.

Minimum Qualifications

- Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions and in good standing.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse that includes 1 year experience as an Infection Prevention RN, or 1 year experience as a state/federal surveyor, or equivalent combination to equal 1 year experience in a health care setting with primary responsibility for assessing nursing and health needs.
- Knowledge of state and federal standards in skilled nursing facility/long term care including certification, infection prevention, and the survey process.
- Communications skill sufficient to develop and deliver training/education and explain complex terms and concepts to a diverse audience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross or ability to be certified by date of hire.
- Experience in a skilled nursing facility/long term care environment.
- Experience as a State surveyor with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH).
- Experience with Quality Assurance Performance Improvement strategies.
- Certification in Infection Prevention, QAPI (Quality Assurance Performance Improvement), Gerontology, or other related field such as Wound Certification, Nurse Executive Certification.
- Experience in clinical care needs of the elderly, those at the end of life, and Veterans.
- Experience delivering health care education.
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Nursing.
