How would you like to work in Highway Maintenance at MnDOT we will provide you with a lot of variety. Our work is interesting. The responsibilities for this position include:
- performing daily and routine road surface maintenance activities to keep the roadways and roadsides safe and in good repair according to MnDOT standards.
- assisting in the maintenance and operation of snow and ice control to ensure safe and clear roadways, and performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Part 1:
A valid Class A or B Driver's License with no air brake restriction is required at time of application and must obtain tanker endorsement within 30 days of hire. Must obtain valid Class A Driver's License with no air brake restriction and tanker endorsement within 6 months of hire. License must by maintained throughout employment.
AND
One year of experience performing activities in snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities (roadway maintenance, driving commercial vehicles, commercial landscaping, operating heavy equipment, or farm experience).
OR:
Education: Successful completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (of at least 60 semester credits; or 90 quarter credits) will substitute for one year of experience. (In order for education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience you must submit a copy of your transcripts).
AND
Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.
Part 2: Final candidate will receive contingent job offer and be invited to take a computerized Math and Reading Assessment Test. The required passing score for the Math portion is a level 3 or higher and the Reading portion is a level 4 or higher. (Position is contingent on passing a math and reading assessment test.)
- A valid Class D Driver's License with no major traffic convictions in the past 5 years; OR 4 or more minor violations in the last 3 years; OR any combination of minor violations and at-fault accidents totaling 4 or more occurrences.
- Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the general public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.
