What are the responsibilities and job description for the Principal Project Manager – Engineer Principal position at Minnesota Department of Transportation?
This position provides project management and direction from inception to completion of projects. To be the primary contact in concert with the Project Management Administrative Engineer and Assistant District Engineer for other public agencies, special interest groups and the public regarding project activities. Other duties include:
- Establish effective long-term relationships with local units of government.
- Provide overall direction and leadership to technical project teams in the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques in the management of project activities for minor, moderate and major scale projects to meet the project requirements.
- Ensure consistency with MnDOT strategy, commitments and goals; and to ensure proper program execution and compliance with MnDOT, state and federal procedures, practices, regulations, and standards.
- Manage the District’s project controls section.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Licensure as a professional Civil Engineer with the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design (AELSLAGID).
- Three (3) years of post-registration engineering experience at the Engineer Senior level (or equivalent) that demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all phases of program delivery including scoping, pre-design, final design and construction.
- A valid MN Class D driver’s license or an equivalent license from another state.
