Note: This is a 100% in-person position at the job site and not eligible for remote work.

Job Duties:

Perform entry level work in a variety of trade areas involving modular furniture, including the designing of modular office layouts, removing and installing modular office parts, and repairing building walls and equipment through established procedures and under general supervision. Will also perform occasional mail courier duties, as backup to regular driver. This position drives to various MnDOT locations frequently.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong mathematical aptitude.
  • Organizational skills sufficient to order and track parts for application of job details, such as ordering and maintaining inventory of modular parts.
  • Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and construction work sufficient to carry out detailed work directions.
  • Ability to operate a variety of building-related tools (e.g., various hand tools, drills, circular saw, etc.).
  • Mechanical ability to take apart, repair as needed, assemble modular furniture pieces and related components.
  • Must have the physical ability to frequently carry up to sixty (60) pound boxes and to move up to one thousand-pound loads with equipment.

Required Licenses And Certifications

  • Forklift operator certification or ability to obtain certification.
  • Valid Class D Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Customer service skills sufficient to communicate with customers in a professional manner.
  • Experience using Outlook to read, compose and respond to email.
  • Experience with spreadsheet software applications such as Microsoft Excel sufficient to enter data and maintain spreadsheets (e.g., parts and furniture inventory).
  • Computer experience sufficient to complete required online training (e.g., workplace safety, cyber security, etc.).
