The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is currently seeking a full-time unclassified Moose Habitat Project Coordinator to work in the Division of Fish and Wildlife. This is a temporary project anticipated to go through June 30th, 2029.
This position exists to deliver project management and partner engagement to collaboratively implement habitat work and strategies that address challenges to large-scale moose habitat management as part of the LCCMR project titled “Supporting Implementation of Large-Scale Moose Habitat Management”. This position will serve as the project manager which includes facilitation of the cross-organization implementation project team, three habitat area coordination teams, and the research and monitoring team; communication across teams and partnering organizations; writing of project updates and reports; implementation and tracking of habitat treatments within three habitat project areas; progress on and documentation of accomplishments related to challenges; identification of funding needs and funding opportunities; and developing grant proposals. The project manager will work closely with tribal, federal, state, county, industry, and NGO partners to achieve desired large-scale moose habitat management.

Minimum Qualifications
This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver’s license with a clear driving record; per DNR Fleet Policy, only those 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license may operate equipment and vehicles on behalf of the Agency.

Responsibilities include:
- Complete project management activities to achieve the goals of the “Supporting Implementation of Large-Scale Moose Habitat Management” LCCMR project and the Moose Habitat Implementation Plan.
- Facilitate collaboration across a broad group of partners to achieve the goals of the Moose Habitat Implementation Plan and further large-scale moose habitat management.
- Implement strategies and develop recommendations for the DNR and partners, that will address the barriers to moose habitat management, facilitate the successful completion of project goals, and achieve large-scale moose habitat management as identified in the Moose Habitat Implementation Plan.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in wildlife management or a closely related discipline such as conservation biology; environmental studies; forest management; or human dimensions, planning, or public policy with a natural resource emphasis.
- Three (3) years professional-level experience in natural resource management involving stakeholder engagement or collaborative project facilitation.
- Working knowledge of game species biology, ecology, wildlife habitat management, and forest management.
- Experience in project management including prioritizing a large and multifaceted workload, planning and accomplishing tasks, and evaluating accomplishments.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in building partnerships and working in collaboration with internal and external partners and agencies.
- Analytical skills sufficient to plan for and manage data collection, analyze and interpret data, and present data effectively.
- Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, electronic communications, presentation software, document management (electronic and paper), and geographic information systems.
- Communication, interpersonal, and human relations skills sufficient to convey complex technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences, navigate conflict, and facilitate groups.
- Demonstrated cultural competency and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Master's degree in wildlife management or a closely related discipline such as conservation biology; environmental studies; forest management; or human dimensions, planning, or public policy with a natural resource emphasis.
- Experience designing and facilitating collaborative projects involving tribal, federal, state, and local government agencies.
- Experience with natural resource management incorporating traditional ecological knowledge or community-based knowledge.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in moose biology and ecology, habitat requirements and management techniques, population dynamics, and related policies and regulations.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in forest management, silviculture, forest ecosystem science, and related policies and regulations.
