What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Manager position at Minit Charger?
Minit Charger is seeking an energetic, technically minded, and highly driven Business Development Representative (BDR) to anchor our expansion into the Aviation and Government sectors globally. In this role, you will be the spearhead of our pipeline generation, identifying high-value infrastructure projects, navigating municipal bids, and tracking federal funding channels (such as the FAA’s Voluntary Airport Low Emission—VALE—program).
Operating out of our Chandler, Arizona facility or remote, you will work closely with executive leadership and senior engineering teams to turn cold outreach into strategic partnerships with airport authorities, airlines, tier-1 ground handlers, and government fleet managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Generation & Outbound Prospecting: Conduct targeted outbound campaigns via email, phone, and professional networks to identify key decision-makers (Aviation Directors, Fleet Managers, Sustainability Officers, Procurement Leads).
- Federal & Municipal Bid Tracking: Monitor commercial procurement trends, public sector RFPs (Request for Proposals), airport electrification tenders, and federal grant opportunities.
- Qualify Technical Opportunities: Discover and analyze prospect requirements surrounding grid capacity, charging speeds, fleet sizes, and compliance needs to position Minit Charger products effectively.
- Leverage Funding Mechanisms: Educate prospects on how to leverage federal funding streams (like the VALE program) to offset costs when upgrading their Ground Support Equipment (GSE) infrastructure.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with Field Engineering and Product Management teams to pass off highly qualified leads, ensuring seamless transition to technical scoping.
- CRM Hygiene: Maintain immaculate records of all sales activities, contacts, and account intelligence within our internal database.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: 3 years of business development or inside sales experience, preferably within industrial hardware, clean-tech, commercial EV infrastructure, or technical B2B sales.
- Sector Familiarity: Prior experience or strong interest in navigating government procurement processes, public sector bids, or the commercial aviation ecosystem is a massive plus.
- Technical Aptitude: Comfort discussing high-power hardware systems, electrical infrastructure, or Industrial IoT software solutions. You don’t need to be an engineer, but you must speak the language.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. You should be as comfortable writing a structured project introductory email as you are picking up the phone.
