REPORTS TO:  Director of Music

General Summary

The Marble Choir, the all-professional choral group of Marble Collegiate Church, is the primary voice of Marble’s music ministry. The choir performs an exceptional array of traditional and contemporary music styles during Sunday worship services and in concerts and other special music services. The choir serves as one of Marble’s musical embodiments of the church’s call to grow in faith, generosity, and service to the New York City community. 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

1.    Be present and on time at scheduled rehearsals, worship services, and other events, whether virtual or live, unless excused after giving prior notice well-in-advance to the Director. 

2.    Prepare assigned repertoire for worship services, concerts, special music services, and online content.

3.    Accept coaching from the Director to achieve blend and, along with other choir members, one choral voice.

4.    Provide assistance and guidance to volunteer choir members, if applicable.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Expectations

1.    Proficiency in reading music and sight-reading required

2.    Experience performing as a vocalist in a professional or professional studies/academic capacity is required. 

3.    Knowledge of classical and liturgical repertoire, sacred works, gospel, and traditional folk music is extremely helpful. 

4.    Professional, courteous demeanor, and respect for the church setting is required at all times.

5.    Availability for major church holy days, specifically, Holy Week and Christmas Eve.
