The purpose of the Technical Sales Associate is to manage bid lists, secure plans and specifications, generate take-offs and project estimates, provide technical sales support for both the Outside Sales team and contractors, and manage projects to ensure profit targets are achieved.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Obtain and review project plans and specifications to determine the specific products and services to be included in a binding estimate per established guidelines
- Obtain special quotations from manufacturers, as required, while maintaining competitive pricing levels and maximizing gross margins
- Coordinate prior approval requests with the engineering services department
- Populate job tracking systems with pertinent information, including basis of design information, quote values, etc.
- Prepare complete and accurate engineering submittals for products being ordered
- Answer application and technical questions, as well as general customer service inquiries, from mechanical contractors
- Prepare and generate orders to manufacturers for products associated with awarded projects
- Manage logistics to ensure product arrives at the job site as required
- Maintain proper margin levels and job accuracy to ensure projects are billed correctly
- Partner with the Outside Sales team and keep them informed regarding product availability, shipping schedules, and overall job status
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Work cooperatively with others
- Comply with all company policies and procedures
- Maintain regular, punctual, and reliable attendance and availability
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Commercial HVAC project management experience preferred
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, and Excel, with the ability to learn job-specific software programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- 5% travel to branches and other operating companies, requiring some overnight stays; travel to industry-related conferences and training may require extended stays
