What are the responsibilities and job description for the Processing Supervisor position at Minerva Dairy?
The Milk Receiving Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the milk intake department, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant receiving of raw milk and dairy ingredients. This role primarily operates during second shift hours (2:00 PM – 2:00 AM) but requires flexibility to cover day shift operations as needed for PTO coverage, call-offs, or critical business demands.
Operational Oversight
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the milk receiving team, ensuring all tankers are unloaded efficiently to maintain production schedules.
- Monitor milk silos and storage tank levels to optimize capacity and prevent workflow bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with the procurement and scheduling teams to manage raw milk delivery logistics.
- Ensure all Clean-in-Place (CIP) procedures for tankers, lines, and silos are completed and documented according to sanitation standards.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to SQF (Safe Quality Food), HACCP, and PMO (Pasteurized Milk Ordinance) guidelines.
- Oversee the sampling and testing of incoming raw milk loads for antibiotics, temperature, acidity, and sensory quality prior to unloading.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all receiving logs, wash tags, and weight tickets.
- Act as a point of contact for state and federal inspectors during shift hours.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in dairy manufacturing or food processing, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role preferred but not required.
- Understanding and willingness to learn about milk pasteurization, separation, and receiving processes. Familiarity with HACCP and SQF standards is preferred.
- Must be able to work a primary schedule of rotating 12-hour shifts (2:00 PM – 2:00 AM), with the ability to switch to day shift or alternate hours to support business continuity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook). Experience with Paycom is a plus.
- Milk Sampler/Weigher license (or ability to obtain within 180 days) and Antibiotic Testing certification
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and working in varying temperatures (hot processing areas/cold storage).
