Molding Projects Engineer – Resin Change Execution
Location: Canaan, CT
Function: Manufacturing / Project Engineering
Position Summary
The Molding Projects Engineer is responsible for execution of site‑led molding resin change projects at Client Canaan. This role owns project execution activities from handoff through validated implementation, partnering with cross‑functional site and platform teams to deliver resin changes in compliance with Client quality, regulatory, and production requirements.
The role is execution‑focused and provides hands‑on engineering and project coordination support to ensure safe, timely, and sustainable implementation without disruption to manufacturing supply.
Responsibilities
- Execute site resin change projects, including material substitutions and alternative resin implementations for molding operations.
- Serve as the site execution owner, coordinating activities across molding, quality, validation, materials, supply chain, and production.
- Support molding process development, trials, and optimization related to resin changes.
- Plan and support DV, OQ, and PQ activities in accordance with Client validation requirements.
- Ensure completion of required technical documentation, change controls, risk assessments, and validation deliverables.
- Coordinate molding press and line time for trials and validation while minimizing impact to production.
- Identify execution risks, escalate issues, and support resolution in coordination with site and platform stakeholders.
- Provide project status updates and support governance reviews as required.
- Capture lessons learned and support continuous improvement of site execution processes.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Plastics, Chemical, or related field).
- Experience in manufacturing, molding, process engineering, or project engineering roles.
- Working knowledge of injection molding processes and manufacturing equipment.
- Familiarity with validation principles and regulated manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant engineering experience in a manufacturing or operations environment.
- Experience supporting material or resin changes in injection molding.
- Experience within medical device manufacturing or other regulated industries.
