The Direct Care Staff helps to ensure the client's safety while clients progress towards rehabilitation goals daily. The DCS has the responsibility of assisting an individual who has a psychiatric disability in the process of restoration of community functioning and well-being. The Direct Care Staff will help the client with rehabilitation services that are collaborative, person-directed, and individualized. This position seeks to effect changes in a person's environment and in a person's ability to deal with his/her environment. These services are combined with independent living, social skills training, vocational rehabilitation, and social support.The DCS will provide services aimed at reducing symptoms and behaviors associated with mental disability. Provide strategies in designing planned interventions for complex clients by providing feedback to the treatment team and the Rehabilitation Specialist. The DCS must be able to provide thorough documentation (progress notes, monthly summary) identifying clients symptoms or behaviors and interventions aimed at assisting clients with needs. The DCS will maintain accurate, detailed and timely (documented within 48 hours of each visit) records.The DCS must have an Associates Degree in psychology or related field or High School Diploma and 2 years experience working directly with clients in mental health setting. Strong interpersonal communication and client centered communication skills.
