What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Technician (HVAC/BAS Specialist) position at Milwaukee Repertory Theater, Inc.?

Description

Position Summary

Milwaukee Rep is seeking a highly skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician (HVAC/BAS Specialist) with hands-on expertise in HVAC systems, building automation platforms (BAS), and mechanical diagnostics. In this role, you’ll work alongside the Chief Engineer and other team members to ensure seamless operation of complex building systems in a dynamic regional theater environment—one that blends historic architecture with new construction.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an exceptional benefits package, including continuing education opportunities. Candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Include

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance of all building systems, including HVAC, BAS (Metasys or similar platforms), mechanical, plumbing, lighting, fire alarms, security and elevators.
  • Interpret data and trends from building automation systems and use analytics to identify, diagnose, and resolve system inefficiencies or malfunctions.
  • Quickly identify root causes of system issues and apply effective, lasting technical solutions.
  • Assist with the operation and upkeep of low-pressure systems, chillers, and HVAC systems.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations and company policies.
  • Troubleshoot system issues and perform emergency and preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Complete minor construction, fabrication and painting work, as assigned by Chief Engineer.
  • Conduct facility walk-throughs, identifying and resolving maintenance needs.
  • Load, unload, and relocate furniture, equipment, fixtures and materials.
  • Maintain the grounds, including snow removal.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations and coordinate support when required.
  • Support task delegation and coordination with the engineering team.

What We Are Looking For

  • You are analytical and intuitive. You can pinpoint inefficiencies within BAS data and trace issues down to their source with precision and creativity. You see patterns faster than most and use them to fine-tune comfort, energy savings, and system health.
  • You are hungry to learn and grow. You thrive on problem-solving, expanding your technical skill set, and staying curious about new tools and technologies that make building systems smarter and more efficient.
  • You want more than the usual grind, you want balance. You’re looking for a place where good work, strong leadership, and a supportive team go hand in hand. You bring enthusiasm, initiative, and respect for quality work while maintaining a healthy rhythm of life.
  • You believe that data and teamwork together create lasting impact. Your passion for making systems perform better, and people’s days run smoother, makes you a valuable part of any forward-thinking building operations team.
