Transportation Operations
Develop, maintain, and optimize student transportation routes using transportation management software.
Coordinate daily transportation operations, including route dispatch, driver support, and response to service interruptions, for daily school attendance, specialized field trips, and athletic events.
Communicate with drivers, school office staff, Principals, Director of Student Support Services and families in a professional and timely manner.
Maintain transportation records, reports, and documentation related to operations, incidents, and service delivery.
Partner with leadership in a neighboring town to establish, expand, and manage a shared OOD transportation framework to maximize efficiency and reduce regional costs.
Fleet Management
Coordinate preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs for district-owned buses and vans.
Maintain vehicle usage, maintenance, and operational records.
Ensure all vehicles meet applicable safety, inspection, and regulatory requirements.
Personnel and Compliance
Supervise transportation personnel, including drivers, monitors, and support staff.
Coordinate the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of transportation personnel.
Maintain records related to driver licensing, certifications
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
Financial and Contract Management
Monitor transportation expenditures and assist with budget management.
Review and reconcile transportation-related invoices and expenditures.
Coordinate contracted transportation services and monitor vendor performance.
Other Duties
Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in school transportation, logistics, fleet management, or a related field preferred.
Experience with student transportation routing software, such as Versatrans, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Massachusetts pupil transportation laws, regulations, and safety requirements.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, and related software applications.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Licenses and Certifications
Valid Massachusetts driver's license required.
CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises transportation personnel, including drivers, monitors, and assigned transportation support staff.
SALARY: $55,000-$60,000 per year
