What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Adjustment Counselor position at Millis Middle School?
This unique position has three primary domains- to support a social emotional program, a caseload of general education students and teaching an elective one block per day.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Massachusetts Certification: School Adjustment Counselor certification required.
Previous experience working with students who have social/emotional disabilities.
Experience as a clinician and/or counselor preferred.
Previous experience with a variety of data collection methods.
Familiar with social/emotional programs that embed perspective taking, self-regulation and social awareness into grade level curriculum and inclusive academic settings.
Proficiency with leading class instruction, working in a sub-separate setting and high level of adaptability
Technological literacy required.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Commitment to teamwork and collaboration with colleagues.
Excellent interpersonal skills required.
Proficiency with writing 504s, and coordinating 504 meetings
Supporting students that have Special Education services through an IEP.
Working with outside providers and state agencies for the support and protection of children.
Must be able to manage unexpected situations and be flexible, adaptable and adept at multitasking.
Masters degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Committee may find appropriate and acceptable.
SALARY: Per Unit A, Teachers Collective Bargaining Agreement.
