About the Role
Millis Development & Construction is looking to add a Senior Estimator to our Dallas office. This candidate will be someone who thrives in precision, strategy, and purpose. This role is ideal for a competitive, detail-oriented, and driven construction professional with a deep understanding of hardscape, small commercial, and civil estimating in both the public and private sectors.
Responsibilities
- Lead the estimating process from concept to bid for a wide range of projects in our market sector.
- Build relationships with key subcontractor partners, internal knowledge-bases, and critical vendors.
- Assess vendor bids for accuracy, completeness, and qualifications.
- Analyze drawings and specifications to prepare comprehensive take-offs.
- Engage in value engineering, vendor negotiations, and pricing strategies – in the name of providing the Client with the highest quality and cost-effective end-product.
- Ensure compliance with public bid requirements and prequalification processes.
Qualifications
- 7 years of estimating experience in commercial, hardscape, or civil construction, ideally in public or municipal projects.
- Strong background in civil, site development, small commercial, and/or hardscape estimating.
- Proven track record of managing bids in design-build and hard bid environments.
- Experience with Planswift, HeavyBid, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with municipalities and local permitting/bidding procedures.
- Highly collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills.
