Position Summary
This is a full-time, on-site Project Engineer role based in Arlington, TX. The Project Engineer provides critical administrative, technical, and coordination support to the Project Management team throughout all phases of construction projects. This position is responsible for managing project documentation, coordinating submittals and RFIs, maintaining organized project records, and supporting communication between internal teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients. The Project Engineer plays a key role in ensuring projects remain organized, efficient, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Submittal Management
- Prepare, organize, submit, and track all project submittals including material data sheets, shop drawings, product samples, and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date submittal logs, tracking statuses, due dates, approvals, and revisions.
- Coordinate communication between project teams, suppliers, subcontractors, General Contractors, and design teams regarding submittal requirements.
- Follow up regularly to ensure timely review and approval of submittals to avoid project delays.
RFI (Request for Information) Management
- Draft, submit, and track RFIs for assigned projects.
- Maintain organized RFI logs and monitor response times.
- Distribute RFI responses to appropriate project team members and field personnel.
- Proactively follow up on outstanding RFIs to support project schedules and minimize delays.
- Ensure all RFIs and responses are properly documented and filed.
Initial Project Setup
- Assist Senior Project Managers with the setup of new projects in company systems and Procore.
- Create and organize digital and physical project folders and filing structures.
- Set up project contacts, document control systems, and project-specific workflows.
- Ensure project documentation is organized and accessible for all team members.
Document Control & Distribution
- Manage printing and distribution of large-format plans and specifications for office and field use.
- Upload and organize project documents including drawings, specifications, contracts, correspondence, meeting minutes, and reports in Procore and other company systems.
- Maintain accurate version control for all project documents and ensure teams are working from current revisions.
- Archive project documentation in accordance with company procedures.
Project Management Support
- Provide administrative and coordination support to Project Managers and project teams.
- Schedule meetings, prepare meeting agendas, and distribute meeting minutes.
- Assist with project reporting, tracking project progress, and monitoring deadlines.
- Help identify potential project issues and support implementation of solutions.
- Facilitate communication between office staff, field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and clients to support efficient project execution.
