We are seeking a dedicated Library Clerk to join our team. The Library Clerk is responsible for keeping all library publications and materials current, as well as physically maintaining the Chattanooga library areas and materials. The Library Clerk assists in maintaining the Library’s digital research platforms and online filing services.
Responsibilities
· Stay current with all library updates, including filing loose-leaf replacement pages, pocket parts, and supplements, both in the Chattanooga library areas (main library, bookcases on each floor and in each conference room), as well as in individual attorneys’ offices.
· Ensure that all updates are filed in order, none are missing, and no pages were omitted from each filing packet.
· Claim missing pages from filing packets and return unneeded print materials by contacting publishers.
· Assist attorneys and paralegals in locating library materials, utilizing digital research platforms, and accessing online filing services.
· Assist in locating missing library materials by searching library areas, checking with attorneys and/or sending emails, as needed.
· Deliver books and articles to the requesting attorney as needed.
· Regularly check all book drops on all floors and return books to the library.
· Shelve books, organize, file, and recycle back issues of periodicals.
· Process new books and materials by entering the details into the library knowledge management software, date stamping, and labeling).
· Hand deliver new office materials when they arrive after processing has been completed (large bulk shipments of annual updates go to all attorneys in a particular department or practice area).
· Process library materials’ standing orders and invoices as requested.
· Perform general housekeeping such as straightening library work areas in the main library. Straighten shelves, front books, and maintain the reading and newspaper areas.
Other duties as assigned.
Experience
· Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, along with effective communication skills.
· Ability to work independently, and to resolve basic problems, as well as knowing when to ask for appropriate help.
· Basic computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft Office products, library knowledge management software, digital research platforms, and online filing services.
· Ability to lift, bend, and stretch to pick up and put books on shelves; ability to carry up to 20 pounds of books, as well as ability to push full book trucks.
· Ability to work as part of the library team.
· Ability to interact well with attorneys, and to understand and pass on reference requests to the Technical Services Library Manager, when appropriate.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
