Tennessee Wesleyan University is seeking dynamic candidates for Director of Library & Information Services to serve the TWU Merner-Pfeiffer Library and the campus community. The Director serves as the chief administrative officer for library and information services, a member of the administrative team of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, and a member of the TWU faculty. The Director oversees all daily operations in the library and directs the overall vision for the library. The faculty appointment is at the rank of Assistant Professor and may be accompanied by a tenure-track appointment depending on the academic preparation of the successful candidate.
Responsibilities:
· Formulate and administer all policies, regulations, plans and procedures to fulfill the mission, goals and objectives of the library.
· Develop, organize, and ensure accessibility to the library’s resources and services, including electronic resource management.
· Supervise staff and faculty members of the library.
· Serve as Department Chair and library representative to faculty committees.
· Manage the library budget
· Monitor and direct collection development, management and assessment practices.
· Report to the Vice President of Academic Affairs on library needs, library initiatives, and any special projects.
· Compile reports and oversee assessment of library services.
· Oversee vendor management and electronic resource acquisition.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· An ALA-accredited master’s in library science (MLIS/MLS), a comparable graduate-level degree and a Public Library Management certification such as the Public Library Management Institute certification, or significant experience supervising a library.
· At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a library.
· Experience with electronic resource management and integrated library systems.
· Experience with LibGuides.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with OCLC Worldshare Management Services ILS and OCLC Discovery.
· Experience with Ebsco products.
· Experience writing and receiving grants and alternative funding.
· Experience with strategic planning for a library.
· Experience with Open and Affordable Educational Resources.
