Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed electrical cost estimates for solar O&M projects, including corrective maintenance, inverter replacements, cable repairs, combiner replacements, tracker repairs, and balance-of-system upgrades.
- Review project specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and site information to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
- Develop and maintain accurate labor production rates for solar electrical work.
- Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing for electrical components, equipment, and services.
- Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure estimates align with field execution strategies and safety requirements.
- Support theBusiness Development team by preparing pricing for service agreements, maintenance contracts, and repair proposals.
- Identify potential project risks and cost drivers during the estimating process.
- Assist with scope clarification, value engineering, and cost optimization strategies.
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records for continuous improvement.
- Participate in handoff meetings with project management and field teams following project award.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of electrical estimating experience, preferably in renewable energy, solar EPC, or electrical contracting.
- Strong understanding of solar electrical systems, including inverters, combiner boxes, transformers, medium-voltage systems, and DC/AC wiring.
- Experience estimating work for utility-scale or commercial solar projects preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in Excel and estimating software.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.
- Ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in solar O&M or service-based estimating.
- Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), OSHA regulations, and electrical safety standards.
- Field experience as an electrician or electrical foreman in solar or power generation environments.
- Familiarity with utility-scale solar plant components and maintenance practices.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
