The Bostonian Hotel Boston -Director of Finance is responsible for performing all hotel accounting and finance duties and providing project leadership on an ad hoc basis. They will provide consistent leadership and accountability in the hotel's financial area by supplying the accounting staff and hotel leadership with guidance and training. They are also responsible for focusing on the profitability of the business, maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting, ensuring acceptable levels of internal control, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, and safeguarding owners/investors' assets.
Responsibilities:
Prepare timely weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports and plans for the properties.
Oversee the preparation and ensure the accuracy of hotel revenues daily via the Income Journal.
Monitor and control hotel operations, cash flow, and operating forecasts for the property.
Maintain timely interaction with Department Heads to ensure that property operations are always on track and under control.
Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations for properties property as necessary.
Participate in revenue/yield management strategy meetings.
Compliance with the company's Accounting Policies and Procedures and internal controls for our finance and accounting operations.
Effectively manage and communicate issues related to managing receivables, payables, daily cash balances, and timely deposits of all funds.
Monitor hotel revenues and expenses to ensure accurate recording by the company's established guidelines. Advise Department Heads in maintaining the company's financial objectives.
Investigate and critique variances to budget/forecast or the prior year and offer practical improvement methodologies to management.
Assist with hiring, training, supervision, and development of staff, including coaching, counselling and discipline.
Assist with Internal/External/Sales Tax audits as required.
Participate as an active member of the management team.
Preparation of any special reports, statements, etc., as requested.
Other special projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Extended hours are sometimes required.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
3-5 years previous experience as Hotel Director of Finance/Controller
Strong PC skills including Excel, Word and financial accounting systems.
Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, and verbal and written communication skills.
Full general ledger experience and month end closing experience is preferred
Ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work under pressure.
Exceptional organizational skills.
Ability to meet deadlines

Salary : $130 - $140
