POSITION: LONG-TERM SUBSTITUTE SPECIAL EDUCATOR **ANTICIPATED**

POSITION TITLE: Long-Term Substitute Special Educator, 1.0 FTE - **ANTICIPATED**
LOCATION: Mill River Union High School (this location is subject to change based on student needs)
START & END DATE:Starting on or about August 20, 2026
Ending on or about November 20, 2026
SUPERVISED BY: Director & Assistant Director of Student Services with Building Principals
BASIC FUNCTION: The long-term substitute special educator will provide high-quality specialized instruction and case
management services to eligible students during the temporary period of time specified above.
COMPENSATION RANGE:In accordance with the MRUUSD-approved rates for daily substitutes: $130 per day.
WORKS WITH: Students, Parents, Teachers, Support Staff, Administration, and Community Partners
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Candidates who hold current licensure in the State of Vermont as a Special Educator, or who demonstrate eligibility for such licensure, shall be given preference over non-licensed applicants.
2. Ability to provide specialized instruction to small groups of students across their individual areas of need.
3. Ability to work collaboratively with special education teams composed of varying participants and stakeholders.
4. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
5. Must be able to pass all background and fingerprint requirements needed to work with school-age students.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide specialized instruction to eligible students across all educational and functional areas of performance.
2. Participate in professional development opportunities as required by the MRUUSD.
3. Administer a variety of curriculum-based assessments necessary to document student progress and needs.
4. As directed by the Administration, attend special education meetings for assigned students.
5. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Administration and as permitted by licensure.
Salary : $130
