Busser, Food Runner, and Host

Our next team player is outgoing and personable with a passion for customer service, food, and beer culture. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of busser/food runner or equivalent work within a high-volume restaurant. The Busser/Food Runner is a representative of MHBC an essential support team player. We’re looking for someone who is organized, punctual, has strong customer service skills and can handle working in a fast paced environment with an “I’ve got this” mentality.

*Please note, this is an hourly rate AND tipped position. Your tips will come from the overall restaurant tip pool. Current busser/food runner and host positions average roughly $20 per hour including hourly rate, credit card & cash tips*

Busser/Runner responsibilities include:

• Main duty is to run food to tables and clear tables in an accurate and timely fashion
• Ability to accurately identify food and bring it to proper table and seat.
• Reliable, hard-working, understanding, capable and fun. We are a high volume restaurant that requires a good head and calm demeanor
• Basic knowledge of all menus, ex: food, cocktails, beer, wine, desserts, etc.
• We are a brewery, so basic knowledge of beer styles and types is preferred
• Understanding and abiding by the health code of NYS and Mill House
• Great customer service and ability to handle high-volume and high-pressure situations.
• Works extremely well independently but also as a team. Must take initiative on the floor during down time.
• Ability to answer the phone appropriately if needed and help the customer yourself if possible.

Host/Hostess responsibilities include:

• Verbally greet guests immediately upon entering the restaurant and thank guests as they are leaving.
• Receiving guests and seating guests at tables in a friendly and timely manner.
• Answer the telephone with the goal of satisfying customer needs.
• Meet guest’s needs by providing pertinent information about the restaurant, menu items, and surrounding area.
• Ability to assess and handle pace of restaurant seating including reassigning reservations to maximize restaurant seating potential.
• Up selling add-on beer and swag sales based on current promotions and overall knowledge and suggest selling for to-go food orders.
• Take and complete to-go orders over the phone, from online ordering system and in-person.
• In times of need, help servers by using sanitizing solution to wipe down tables, chairs, booths, and table base, sweep floor area around table, and reset using designated silverware, napkins, and condiments.
• Stock all items on Front Desk and make sure area is free of clutter.
• Keep merchandise neat.
• Able to walk and stand for up to 8 hours.
• Experience and knowledge with OpenTable and/or Resy Reservation Systems a plus!

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Base Pay: $10.35 per hour
