Duties
- Develop and implement comprehensive activity programs that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including memory care and dementia-specific activities.
- Coordinate special events, outings, and therapeutic activities aligned with residents’ preferences and health considerations.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, caregivers, and family members to assess individual needs and customize activities accordingly.
- Lead recreational therapy sessions focused on cognitive stimulation, social engagement, and physical activity.
- Manage scheduling of daily activities to ensure consistent participation while accommodating residents’ routines and health requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of resident participation, progress notes, and activity outcomes for care planning purposes.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages social interaction among residents with diverse backgrounds and abilities.
Skills
- Proven experience in event planning within assisted living or nursing home settings.
- Strong background in senior care, including Alzheimer’s care, memory care, and dementia-specific programming.
- Knowledge of recreational therapy techniques aimed at enhancing mental health and physical well-being of older adults.
- Experience working with people with disabilities or those requiring long-term care support.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage residents, families, staff, and community partners.
- Ability to assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as mobility or personal care as needed during activities.
- Skilled in schedule management to balance multiple programs while ensuring safety and compliance standards are met.
- Understanding of aging issues counseling and social work principles to support residents’ emotional needs.
