Job Overview
A Golf Course Spray Technician safely mixes and applies fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides across the course. They calibrate and maintain spray rigs, monitor turf conditions for disease, and keep detailed application records to ensure compliance with local and federal environmental safety regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- State pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Knowledge of turfgrass management practices and chemical application procedures.
- Ability to safely operate spray equipment and maintenance machinery.
- Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and operate equipment for extended periods.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Chemical Application: Accurately measure, mix, and apply turf-care products to greens, tees, fairways, and roughs.
- Equipment Maintenance & Calibration: Inspect, clean, and calibrate sprayers, spreaders, and hoses for precise delivery.
- Record Keeping: Log detailed daily records of chemical usage, weather conditions, and treated areas for superintendent reports.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain chemical storage areas to EPA/OSHA standards and stay updated on safety data sheets (SDS).
- Turf Monitoring: Identify early signs of pest damage, weed growth, or turf disease and communicate findings to the head superintendent.Qualifications & Requirements
- Licensing: State-issued Pesticide Applicator License (or the ability to acquire one within 3 months of hire).
- Experience: Typically 1–3 years of hands-on experience in turf management, golf course maintenance, or landscaping.
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
