Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) partners with the Director of Nursing to oversee the day-to-day clinical and administrative operations of the Nursing Department. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring high-quality resident care, regulatory compliance, staff development, and operational excellence while promoting a positive and collaborative culture throughout the facility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating nursing services.

  • Ensure residents receive safe, compassionate, and person-centered care.

  • Support quality assurance and infection prevention initiatives.

  • Monitor compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations and policies.

  • Mentor, educate, and support nursing staff through coaching and ongoing development.

  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and retention of nursing team members.

  • Coordinate staffing and scheduling to maintain appropriate clinical coverage.

  • Ensure timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation.

  • Foster effective communication among nursing staff, physicians, residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members.

  • Collaborate with leadership to continuously improve clinical outcomes and resident satisfaction.

  • Maintain flexibility to meet the evolving needs of the facility and its residents.

Qualifications
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience.

  • One (1) to two (2) years of leadership or supervisory experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing setting preferred.

  • Current CPR certification.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and critical-thinking skills.

  • Thorough understanding of long-term care regulations and standards of practice.

  • A genuine commitment to providing exceptional, resident-centered care.
