The Security Lead is a full-time position that models Milken values and assists with security operations and the safety of students, employees, and visitors on school grounds. Conducting risk assessments, monitoring premises, and leading emergency responses, balancing daily security needs with active threat mitigation. The Security Lead will report to the Security Manager.

SALARY RANGE: $26.44 - $28.45 per hour ($55,000 - $60,000 per year)

Position Overview
The Security Lead is a full-time position that models Milken values and assists with security operations and the safety of students, employees, and visitors on school grounds. Conducting risk assessments, monitoring premises, and leading emergency responses, balancing daily security needs with active threat mitigation. The Security Lead will report to the Security Manager.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Security Manager with daily safety operations, ensuring constructive and positive communications and customer service-oriented relationships with faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
- Patrols and monitors school buildings, grounds, parking lots, perimeter, restrooms, and eating areas to enforce school rules with regard to safety and student behavior, etc.
- Works with Operations Manager and Director of Operations to manage Emergency Response Plans, including facilitation of scheduled drills, and ensures appropriate response for all campus facilities-related emergencies.
- Serves as a liaison to police, sheriff, and fire department personnel.
- Support School federal and state regulatory compliance requirements, including Cal/OSHA, LA Educational Code, and all fire and life safety-related codes and requirements.
- Provides leadership to security staff during afternoon and evening shifts.
- Works closely with the Security Manager to maintain the schedule of security personnel.
- Model and lead staff to a high safety standard.
- Follow and lead security policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Assist with training security officers.
- Attend meetings with security managers to determine operational needs.
- Coordinate staff when responding to emergencies and alarms.
- Review reports on incidents and breaches.
- Investigate and resolve issues.
- Create reports for management on security status.
- Analyze data to form proposals for improvements (e.g. implementation of new technology).
- Maintain firearm certification and follow security training requirements.
- Perform other related work duties, including providing support to other Operations areas as requested.
- 5 years or more of directly related experience in security/operations management.
- Ability to work with and around people in a positive and cooperative manner.
- Ability to drive between campus locations as part of the role; valid driver’s license required.
- Must possess strong analytical skills.
- Able to be on their feet and walk for extended periods, including on uneven, unsteady terrain.
- Able to access confined or otherwise difficult-to-reach spaces and work in all weather conditions.
- Able to lift and carry 40 pounds for up to 20 feet.
- Maintenance work order software experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of security needs for a Jewish Day School.
- Strong team builder.
- Possess a BSIS guard card with a firearm permit.
- Valid certification for CPR/AED/First Aid.
