POSITION OVERVIEW
The Operations Technician is a full-time position supporting the Operations Department and focusing primarily on preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and technical facilities related issues. Technicians assist in the pickup, delivery, installation, and movement of various equipment, furniture, and other materials as necessary, while adhering to operational safety standards and protocols. Operations technicians must be able to perform manual labor duties and tasks, as well as have a flexible schedule and be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary. The Operations Technician will report to the Director of Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Picks up trash and litter, and empties and cleans trash and garbage receptacles.
- Familiar with electrical, plumbing, mechanical and landscape systems.
- Handles repairs of maintenance items, troubleshooting, installation and replacement.
- Familiar with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, small engines and tenant improvement projects.
- Event setup and breakdown.
- Work with the Operations Department to fulfill various work order requests.
- Handles setup and teardown of equipment, supplies, and other materials as needed for operational and venue requirements.
- Assists in the maintenance and inventory control for all operational assets.
- Assists with the general overall upkeep of all the campuses.
- Operates heavy equipment, including but not limited to pallet jacks (manual and motorized), man lift, boom lifts, scissor lifts, and reach forks.
- Complies with all safety policies, procedures, and protocols when executing work duties and responsibilities.
- Provides excellent customer service to the Milken School community across all venues and campus properties.
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions while maintaining strong detail orientation; be flexible and adaptable under varied conditions and requirements.
- Ability to operate effectively in the absence of direct supervision.
- Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to drive between campus locations as part of the role; valid driver’s license required.
- At least 6 months of prior experience in maintenance or facilities.
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and execute while under time constraints.
- Able to effectively communicate in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to multitask and effectively maneuver between functions.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Able to stand and walk for prolonged periods.
- Flexible schedule; available to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Good problem solving skills, common sense and good judgment.
- Ability to work with and around people in a positive and cooperative manner.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated skills in handling sound, lighting and computer equipment.
- Spanish language proficiency is a plus for communicating with campus staff and vendors.
ON CAMPUS HOURS:
Monday-Friday, or Sunday -Thursday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (hours may vary depending on school-related tasks or events)
SALARY RANGE: $27 - $30 per hour ($56,160 - $62,400 annually)
