The hands on Industrial Electrician and Instrumentation Supervisor is responsible for supervising, directing and coordinating the work of all E&I hourly personnel. You will have approximately 8 E& I techs reporting to you, 4 on the day shift and 4 on off shifts. The supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and direction to ensure the safety of the workforce, provide quality and efficient execution of goals, monitor crew performance, provide problem analysis for equipment history, submit accurate reports of work execution, take appropriate action in response to emergencies, and administer company policies as they relate to assigned personnel.
Again, this is a hands-on role. If hired, initially you must show your team that you can do their job for them to believe you can lead them, so you must be willing to get your hands dirty like all of the supervisors, managers and even the superintendent do here. They all believe and understand that if they are not making paper, no one is making money. You also must ensure that safety is a primary value for all assigned personnel.
You will be directly supervising union employees, though this is not a union role. This includes but is not limited to, initiating corrective action, and writing and presenting performance appraisals. You will also ensure that training is scheduled and received be all crew members and generate weekly and daily work schedules for all maintenance personnel based on work orders.
This is a day shift role that works from 6:45 AM until 5 PM with some OT during the week and some on Saturdays. You will also be on call once every 4-5 weeks once trained and up to speed.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of exp. working in and industrial E & I position and previous supervisory exp. is a plus.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience with distributive control systems (ABB DSC) and programmable logic controller (Allen-Bradley PLC) is highly recommended.
- A strong working knowledge of electrical components used in an industrial environment. Strong mechanical aptitude, mathematical proficiency, and troubleshooting skills.
- Self-motivated individual with a take-charge attitude and an understanding of personnel management techniques.
- Understanding of activities and procedures required for efficient and quality work completion.
- Strong computer skills including, but not limited to a working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
- Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced production setting.
