The Military Heritage Museum is dedicated to preserving and showcasing the stories and artifacts of veterans and their contributions to our nation. The museum is also home to the Gulf Theater, a vibrant performance venue offering a variety of shows and programs for the community.
Job Summary:
The Welcome Center Receptionist will serve as the first point of contact for visitors to the Military Heritage Museum, providing a welcoming and informative experience. This role involves selling admission tickets to the museum and show tickets for the Gulf Theater, as well as assisting visitors with general inquiries. The Welcome Center Receptionist reports directly to the Program Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist visitors in a friendly, professional manner as they enter the museum.
- Sell and process museum admission tickets and Gulf Theater show tickets accurately and efficiently.
- Provide information about exhibits, upcoming events, and theater performances to visitors.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions, maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Assist with crowd management during peak hours or special events, as needed.
- Work with the Curator to properly receive artifact donations and record accurately.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
- Track visitor attendance and ticket sales for reporting purposes.
- Complete opening and closing procedures thoroughly.
- Direct phone calls or in person inquiries to appropriate staff.
- Work with Museum volunteers, answering their questions and helping them acclimate to the daily schedule.
- Support the Program Director with administrative tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous customer service or reception experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in handling cash and electronic payments accurately.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with ticketing or POS systems.
- Interest in or knowledge of military history is a plus.
Work Schedule:
Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. Arrival at 9:20am and completion by 4:15pm may be necessary to prepare and to close out the day. Additional hours may be required occasionally for special events such as Memorial or Veterans Days.
Pay: From $16.20 per hour
