Position:Bilingual Adjustment Counselor
Location:Milford High School
Schedule:2025-2026 School Year
Salary:Per Teachers’ Contract
To Start:January 2026
Qualifications:
●Licensed by DESE as School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor required
●Degree in Counseling/Social Work and LMHC/LCSW required
●Bilingual in Portuguese and/or Spanish
●CPI training and certification preferred
●Completion of the 2-hour online Language Ambassador Training Course, certificate required upon hire
●Bilingual, Spanish and/or Portuguese required.
oProof of proficiency in the Target language, as aligned to DESE Guidance for the Provision of Interpreters in the Education Setting (p.8), required within the first year of employment.
Responsibilities:
The following items are completed in English and/or the targeted language, as appropriate:
●Provide individual and/or group counseling to students on a weekly basis
●Develop IEP counseling goals and provide services as needed
●Intervene during crisis situations and make appropriate referrals
●Work collaboratively with staff to develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans
●Consult with administrators, nurse, parents, teacher and community providers
●Attend IEP and 504 meetings as needed
●Attend adjustment counselor meetings, department meetings, faculty meetings and community meetings
●Serve on School Crisis Team and MTSS Team
●Work collaboratively with court and police officials regarding truancy and court cases
●Provide staff training on behavioral and mental health issues
●Facilitate building-to-building transition meetings
●Perform any other duties as designated by the administrator
