Description

The Child Care Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-date operations of the facility to ensure that children have a safe and fun environment to learn and socialize with others and proactively communicate with parents to accommodate their child’s needs. Main functions include recruiting, scheduling, audits, evaluations, training, reviewing policies and procedures, and meeting all state and federal requirements.

Responsibilities/Activities

 

Compliance/Administrative Tasks 

  • Recruiting new staff members and providing orientation
  • Overseeing adherence to program standards, practices, and implementing programs.
  • Develop schedules for staff members. 
  • Audit and update personnel and enrolment files annually.
  • Conduct formal and informal observations to evaluate teaching staff.
  • Provide counseling through immediate feedback and annual performance evaluations.
  • Review feedback and set center-wide goals.
  • Assess staff progress at six months and twelve months post hire and annually.
  • Review and edit staff policy and procedures and parent handbooks annually.
  • Manage training requirements for staff members.
  • Conduct center tours and provide program information to prospective clients.
  • Substitute in classrooms.
  • Assist with meal preparations, and cleaning duties as needed.
  • Manage payment collection, posting and deposits.
  • Be well versed in and ensure compliance with all Kentucky rules and regulations. 

 

Human Resources Functions

  • Recruit, conduct orientation, training, and onboarding for new staff.
  • Ensures the accuracy of employee payroll information and complete the payroll process.
  • Ensures employees follow-through on pre-hire requirements, education and documentation per policies, procedures, protocols, and regulations. 
  • Ensures hiring compliance of new staff.
  • Assesses the need for and conducts and arranges continuing education for staff members.
  • Maintains and oversees benefits administration including paid time off accruals.
  • Maintains and oversees systems.
  • Ensuring programs comply with state and federal laws and regulations and company policies and procedures. 
  • Manages direct service provider time and budgets.
  • Develops new policies, procedures and programs for staff recruitment, retention, onboarding, and off-boarding.
  • Supports leaders in performance evaluations, disciplinary action, promotions, and demotions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Education/Training

  • Associated Degree in Early Childhood Education and Development or have at least two years of verifiable full-time paid working experience working directly with children in a school base program following Department of Education guidelines, and early childhood development program or licensed childcare program.
  • Experience may be substituted for education on a 1:1 year basis.
  • 12 hours of child development training.
  • Has a social security number or valid work permit.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Proper Vehicle Insurance Coverage.
