The QC Field Technician will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and integrity of materials used in the production of concrete and hot mix asphalt, in accordance with industry standards, INDOT specifications, and Milestone LP protocols to support the successful delivery of infrastructure projects.

Essential Functions

• Perform quality control tests
• Collect and prepare samples from delivery trucks for analysis
• Perform all QC and QA tests required
• Assist in developing and refining mix designs to meet project specifications
• Communicate with internal teams and external customers
• Collaborate across departments to ensure timely and accurate reporting of test results
• Meet all INDOT testing and reporting deadlines
• Attend ongoing training sessions to stay current with industry standards and practices
• Obtain and maintain INDOT certifications and qualifications
• Promote a culture of safety by adhering to company safety protocols and wearing required PPE
• Demonstrate safe work practices in all field and lab environments
• Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to continuously growing in alignment with the Company’s core values, competencies, and skills.

Education Qualifications

• High School or equivalent required

Experience Qualifications

• 3 years experience working with asphalt and concrete in the heavy/highway industry preferred
• Previous experience in construction materials testing is a plus

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and comprehend technical specifications
• Ability to read measuring devices in metric and English
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to perform mathematical computations, of increasing complexity, by hand, with calculators and Excel

Licenses and Certifications

• ACI Field Level 1 Certification Preferred
• INDOT Quality Control Certification (must obtain if not currently held)
• Asphalt QC Certification (must obtain if not currently held)

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

• Lifts, pushes, pulls, pours or carries heavy objects and buckets of material
• Ability to lift 60 pounds consistently and up to 80 pounds occasionally
• Walks and stands for long periods of time
• Bends, stoops, squats, reaches to move, mix and test materials
• Uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
• Uses good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination, with the ability to quickly move arms and legs
• Possess excellent stamina to work between 8-12 hours per day
• Ability to work both night and daytime hours, weekend, and overtime
• Willingness to travel to field sites and work in varying outdoor conditions, driving distances between labs, plants and job sites, as needed
