Job Summary:
Milan High School is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Powerlifting Coach to lead and develop student-athletes in the Milan Powerlifting program. The successful candidate will promote a positive and competitive environment focused on strength development, safety, teamwork, sportsmanship, and academic achievement. The coach will work within the established framework of the Milan Athletic Department and the Michigan High School Powerlifting Association (MHSPLA).
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of powerlifting technique, training methods, and safety protocols
- Prior experience competing in or coaching powerlifting, strength training, or a related sport
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or ability to obtain prior to the season)
- Ability to motivate and develop student-athletes of varying ability levels
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Prior high school or college coaching experience preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and lead safe, structured practices focusing on technique, strength development, and conditioning
- Teach proper form, spotting, and equipment use to ensure athlete safety
- Develop individual and team goals that promote growth and achievement
- Create a practice schedule and meet schedule; register team/athletes for the meets and manage associated paperwork and fees
- Organize and supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, and travel
- Manage team roster, eligibility, communication, and scheduling in coordination with the Athletic Department
- Manage Final Forms for eligibility, rostering, medical, emergencies, etc.
- Maintain and care for powerlifting equipment and training facilities
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school staff
- Uphold MHSAA, MHSPLA, and district policies regarding eligibility, conduct, and sportsmanship
- Model and promote the values of respect, responsibility, and integrity
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Director of Athletics and High School Principal based on program development, athlete experience, and adherence to district and athletic department expectations.
Salary/Hours:
As Outlined In the Milan Area Schools Teachers Contract; Part-time, seasonal position following the MHSPLA competitive schedule
