HR Payroll Administrator

Mikey’s Late Night Slice

Columbus, Ohio

Summary: We are looking for a dynamic HR Payroll Administrator to join our team and take charge of our payroll functions. In this role, you will ensure our amazing team members are compensated accurately and on time, so they can focus on what they do best—making mouthwatering pizza and serving up smiles! You’ll be the go-to person for payroll inquiries and will play a crucial role in maintaining our quirky and inclusive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and audit the end-to-end payroll function to ensure 100% compliance with FLSA, state, and local regulations—all while keeping the process chill and easy for the team.
  • Maintain and monitor tip pooling policies to ensure equitable and legally compliant disbursement among eligible staff.
  • Completely manage payroll HRIS software (Paycor) by making sure all team members are up to date with basic information and no outstanding system alerts are active
  • Collaborate with HR leadership to interpret payroll data and provide strategic recommendations, while also maintaining up-to-date employee records, managing time-off requests, and handling payroll adjustments as needed.
  • Generate payroll reports and analyze data to provide insights that support our staffing and financial goals.
  • Serve as the friendly point of contact for payroll-related questions from staff, making sure everyone feels heard and valued.
  • Evaluate and implement best practices for payroll software and HR systems to improve operational efficiency and data security.
  • Keep an eye on the latest trends in payroll software and HR practices to keep our restaurant ahead of the curve.
  • Actively participate in team meetings, bringing a positive attitude and creative solutions to enhance the employee experience.
  • Coordinate and administer the team member benefits program. Act as a centralized resource for employees with benefit questions, researching and resolving concerns to ensure everyone is happy with their coverage.
  • Maintaining the Employee Handbook.

  • Conduct new employee orientations to explain benefit programs and other payroll/HR-related matters so new hires feel welcome from day one
  • Administer medical, dental, prescription drug, and flexible spending programs. This includes overseeing reimbursement benefits.
  • Take the lead on ACA management by monitoring measurement periods to track employee eligibility and handling all yearly ACA reporting requirements.
  • Lead the charge on essential compliance reporting, including EEOC reporting and the annual EEO-1 Component 1 Report. Ensure that we fulfill all requirements of relevant government rules, including ERISA.
  • Coordinate and administer team member benefits program and report usage and cost on a monthly basis for HR budgeting
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of employee records, including onboarding and offboarding in accordance with proper record-keeping protocols (I-9, tax forms, etc.).
  • Coordinate and execute BWC (Workers' Comp), unemployment claims, and other employment-related regulatory filings.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in payroll management, preferably in a fast-paced or hospitality environment.
  • Proficiency with payroll software (experience with Toast and Paycor is a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations related to payroll, including FLSA standards for tipped and non-exempt employees.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills—accuracy is key!
  • Experience managing tip pooling policies and disbursement
  • Friendly, approachable demeanor with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse personalities.
  • High level of discretion and professionalism in handling sensitive information.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $60-$65k annual salary
  • Unlimited PTO policy applicable
  • Benefits enrollment options (currently with UHC for medical, VSP for vision, Guardian for dental)
