Position: Engineer Technician II
Nature of Role: As a Engineer Technician II, you will provide vital technical support for Wet-End SONAR testing operations and Acoustic Measurements and Standards. Working within the Code 15 Undersea Sound Reference Division (USRD) team, you will focus on the evaluation of hydrophones and transducers through rigorous data analysis and documentation. You will collaborate closely with government engineers to manage equipment integration, test execution, and the comprehensive development of technical documentation to verify system consistency and performance.
Responsibilities:
- Review and verify system specifications, design documents, Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Maintenance Requirements Cards (MRCs), and engineering drawings to ensure consistency with technical manuals.
- Develop and maintain program engineering documentation, including system engineering notebooks, performance specifications, and measurement analysis plans.
- Analyze test and operational data to assess system effectiveness against Key Performance Parameters (KPPs) and system technical requirements.
- Evaluate system designs to predict Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RMA) performance at the system, subsystem, and component levels.
- Perform trend analysis on operational data to identify technical issues or risk areas, providing recommendations for component upgrades and procedure improvements.
- Perform maintenance and support operations for USRD laboratory equipment and facilities.
- Prepare and deliver documentation reviews and effectiveness analysis reports in accordance with CDRL requirements.
Experience:
- 3 years of experience in a related technical discipline.
- Experience with systems engineering processes, specifically requirements development, verification, and validation.
- Familiarity with sonar systems, undersea warfare systems, or defense programs is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to conduct RMA performance predictions and trend analysis.
- Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills for the delivery of formal engineering reports.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
